I am a Cuban-American artist based out of Miami, FL. My studio is located in Miami Beach. I have been an artist ever since childhood drawing animals on paper etc. I always felt that I saw the world differently. I attained a Bachelors in Graphic Design in 2003. My road to becoming a professional fine artist was a mixed one. Being a self-taught artist, I received very little formal art training, aside from a painting elective course I took at The Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale while pursuing my degree in Graphic Design.  Later on in 2007, I began to do live art at local events in Miami & received some positive recognition.  I am excited about my new art career and the great people I am meeting along the way! In 2013, I joined the Yo Space Studios in Little Haiti, FL. Nearby the famous Wynwood arts district.  I have been have been part of some prominent exhibitions, gallery shows and artist collectives.

Media:

Although I initially started painting using traditional oil paint, I have been learning more techniques. I have been expanding on my knowledge of painting on different mediums like acrylic painting, spray paint, wheat paste, wood working and more.

Inspiration:

I am Inspired by nature, color, music, human nature, the feminine form, extraterrestrial shapes (crop circles), hieroglyphics and mystic scripts, graffiti, typography and Graphic Design. As a child, popular culture of the 70’s and 80’s was a big influence on me as well. I like to engage in subjects as human mystical realm in relation to nature and animals, music and typography from my studies in Graphic Design of the 1990’s and 2000’s. My work reproduces visual signs such as memories of familiar places of my memory or just purely imagination. In my works I look to build all these elements into new conceptually layered pieces. Often times I combine these themes into installations that feature objects such as wood painted, carved, written on and wheat pasted. The text used on my works provide clues to content and interpretation while also being part of the design. While I use a variety of materials and processes in each project my methodology is consistent. Although there may not always be material similarities between the different projects they are linked by recurring subject matter. Each project often consists of multiple works, often in a range of different media, grouped around specific themes and meanings. During research and production new areas of interest arise and lead to new experimentations and directions.

My goal as an artist is to convey my thoughts & feelings on to different mediums and hopefully grasp the viewers emotional reactions. To share my childhood memories and my adult experiences of changing cultures and times.
